This Movie's Lookin' Good!

Over Rob Giglio's Shoulder
Hello people! So last week was essentially the busiest week I’ve had since shooting the movie a year ago… Not only did I have my usual work and pursuits, but was prepping to produce/AD a short for my friend Amy Roy, which we just wrapped yesterday. *And* last Mon-Fri we also happened to be color correcting a little film called “Lebanon, Pa.”
Yes, it is official. We have changed the title. Alert the media.
(More photos and details in the full post!)
For many of you, this will be your first glimpse of actual footage from the movie… You may wonder why it took so long…
Well, really, we were waiting for this part of the process… b/c it isn’t until color correction that the movie actually looks like it’s “supposed to.” The good folks at DIVE, here in Philadelphia, put a ton of dedicated work into color correction, FX, and our new title sequence. And I’m happy to report, the film now looks better than even I thought it would. They did an awesome, inspired, thorough job.
Rob (the afore-mentioned colorist), MJ and myself spent the week in the color correction theater looking at the film in beautiful 2k… Sally Fridy (Exec Producer) and Jason joined us for much of it as well… We ended up with a 2k Digital Intermediate that will serve as the master print of the film from now on, and will be used to strike actual 35mm prints if we get a theatrical deal. We go back in for an HD version second correction soon for all HD, broadcast and home video distribution down the line… and I go into Milkboy tomorrow to review what may be the final sound mix.
In short, the movie is very, very nearly done. Now we just need to bring it to all you fine people
Please send good vibes. We still await a response from Sundance… it will likely be a month or so until we hear anything.
Enjoy the photos!

Watching the magic happen

One thing I am sure you might not be aware of is that a movie, called LEBANON, was just released at the 2009 Venice Film Festival and won the Golden Lion Award. The link to one URL that carries this News feed is as follows:

Unless, having your movie have the same name as a war moviw about the Middle East does not matter?
Best Regards,
Min
I did note that you added PA to the film name – hope that ends all possible future confusion . . .
Ben, I was a PA on this movie working under Dave barnes, April Hodick and Jessi cayton in the art dept. If you don’t remember look at the guy in the background of the school cafeteria – I doubled as an extra
I was wondering if I could be added to the cast And crew on imdb or at least make sure I’m in the credits of the final cut. I’m also wondering if I’ve missed any screenings or anything since I haven’t been in touch with anyone since the movie wrapped. I know you’re close to done and you’re probably swamped, but please get back to me when you have some time.
Thanks Ben,
Alex Shanfeld
looking forward to the movie.
That was quite excellent, thanks a ton! I’ll have to look at some of the other posts too…
